Trailer for Tom Cruise's action film Oblivion

TOM Cruise finds himself in a post-apocalyptic love triangle in his new sci-fi thriller, Oblivion.

And the latest trailer contains brand new footage of the impressive special effects.

Set sixty years after a devastating war against an alien race destroyed most of the planet and caused the human race to move away to orbital cities.

Tom's character Jack Harper is a repairman sent to Earth to maintain the robotic drones who guard the surface from scavengers.

With his time away coming to an end, he is set to join partner and lover Victoria in one of the cities, but is struggling to come to terms with leaving Earth.

And when a mysterious and beautiful stranger – played by Bond girl Olga Kurylenko — emerges from a crashed space pod, he finds even more to stay behind for.

Morgan Freeman also stars as a the leader of an underground community who capture Jack.

Oblivion arrives on April 12.
