helen flanagan praises pro-anorexia pic
DIM actress Helen Flanagan last night sparked fresh outrage following her gun pose — after praising pro-anorexia messages.
The brainless ex-Corrie star, 22, supported a craze called "thinspiration" which featured disturbing images of emaciated girls on an internet site.
Experts battling to help victims of anorexia and bulimia were horrified by the latest blunder which makes her Britain's dumbest celebrity.
One sickened by her championing the stick-thin fad said: "These messages are dangerous, irresponsible and ill-informed when they come from someone who is a role model for young fans."
Last night flaky Flanagan tried to wriggle out of the storm — claiming she made an innocent MISTAKE just like when she posed with a gun to her head after the Sandy Hook massacre saw 20 kids shot dead at a US school.
The I'm A Celebrity star said she never knew her postings on a photo-sharing website could be seen by the 27,000 who follow her on Instagram.
Flanagan — who as a 16-year-old struggled with an eating disorder HERSELF — squirmed: "I thought the pictures I liked on Instagram were private until now.
"It is difficult being a role model. I am grateful to The Sun for being able to guide me on the right path and help me to better my moral quest in life."
The pictures she plugged were posted by Instagram user "skinnybikinibody" — real name Jenna Crowther, from Birmingham.
She last night claimed the images simply promoted "health and fitness". But they show a series of skeletal models parading in swimwear — accompanied by messages such as "perfect body". One image bears the mantra: "Craving is only a feeling."
Weeks ago Flanagan posted snaps on the site of weight-loss sweets and a diet book — along with a photo of a glass of water and some oatcakes.
A spokesman for eating disorder charity Beat said: "Young people can be influenced by the celebrity world and strive to emulate unhealthy practices.
"We would remind celebrities of their responsibilities."
