The Bay Area music scene had a particular flair for making headlines for reasons other than actual music in 2012. Some of these 10 incidents are totally tabloid, others are cold and criminal, but none of them are boring. From Ecstasy rings and instrument thievery to lascivious infidelity and shocking allegations of racism, let's roll the best of the year's police blotter and gossip fodder.

10. Latin salsa and EDM party venue Cafe Cocomo
dramatically closed in August and then reopened after recovering from the edge of eviction. Thankfully, San Francisco did not have to find out what a bunch of ravers deprived of a Sunday all-dayer would do.

9. Students of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music were on edge as a cello that was priceless to its owner (but valued at an estimated $ 11,000) was
stolen and subsequently recovered in the fall. Two perpetrators were captured on video, but the instrument was eventually turned in to the lost and found department of the nearby opera house.

8. Rap stars Too $ hort and E-40 were booked to play at hip-hop fest Rock The Bells at Shoreline Ampitheatre, but didn't end up appearing. 40 told Complex that Mountain View had
banned him and Too $ hort from appearing, perhaps stemming from a 1995 incident between $ hort and The Luniz at the venue. But the city later
clarified that neither it nor the Mountain View Police Department issued such a ban, and the truth of why the rappers didn't appear hasn't yet come to light.

7. After filling for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, soul station KBLX was
sold to radio conglomerate Entercom. Fans mourned over the summer as the local morning show was replaced by Steve Harvey's syndicated program and other local touches disappeared, including the end of the station's star-studded concert series.

6. Vallejo rapper Miami The Most was
arrested on Ecstasy and cocaine charges in Las Vegas in November. Turns out, it wasn't his first arrest this year.

5. Miami The Most was also part of a larger and more high-profile April arrest that involved several Vallejo rappers affiliated with the late Mac Dre's Thizz Entertainment label. They were detained as part of an
FBI investigation into an Ecstasy trafficking ring. Twenty-five were arrested in all, including recording artists Miami, Dubee, Geezy, and Little Bruce. Looks like thizz is still what it is.
