Ben Price: Nick and Kylie went for it, but I’ve done worse
SHOCKED Coronation Street viewers are still reeling after watching Nick Tilsley fall into bed with sister-in-law Kylie Platt.
But actor Ben Price insists he was unfazed filming the passionate romp.
When he played sexy Conrad Gates in ITV1 drama Footballers' Wives, Ben was involved in some of the most eye-popping scenes screened on primetime TV.
Not only did he join the mile-high club and romp on a washing machine, he also had a gay fling — so this storyline is tame in comparison.
Ben said: "Nick and Kylie both go for it — it was a pretty passionate kiss and we had to make it believable — but I've done a lot worse!
"In one episode of Footballers' Wives, I was on a plane fully nude with Zöe Lucker.
"And in another episode, I walked through a hotel in Thailand completely naked. It was quite shocking!"
There will plenty of shocks in store on the cobbles after Nick and Kylie's Christmas Day fling.
Nick saw the night of passion as a one-off.
But this week, Kylie discovers she's pregnant and doesn't know if the baby is Nick's or his brother David's.
Ben, 40, predicts there will be fireworks if the rest of the family — David, Gail, Audrey and Lewis — find out what has happened.
He said: "None of them are shy at coming forward so it will be very fiery.
"The family won't brush things under the carpet — it could get messy."
Ben has found his recent storylines hard-hitting in more ways than one.
Viewers saw Nick's feud with Peter Barlow build to a crescendo at Christmas after the bookie wrecked Nick's festive wedding to Leanne.
But things are about to get even worse — with a vicious punch-up that left Ben nursing bruises for real.
Ben said: "Chris Gascoyne (Peter) packs quite a punch!
"The reason for the fight is that Peter finds out from Leanne that she has re-booked the wedding — so he starts winding Nick up about it.
"It really gets to Nick — he could handle Peter the alcoholic, but he can't handle the new Peter."
Ben, who also appeared in Casualty and Soldier Soldier, has had more than his fair share of bumps and bruises during his career.
He was knocked out during an episode of Peak Practice.
But his most perilous moments came during seemingly harmless kickabouts for Footballers' Wives.
Ben, who played star striker Conrad from 2004 to 2005, said: "The football was more dangerous than any stunt I've ever done!
"In a sliding tackle, I caught my leg and hurt my knees and another time, I badly twisted my hamstring."
Ben, who lives with his wife Alexandra and their two children, grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne. He was first approached to star in Corrie as a mechanic in 1996.
But the dream role of Nick didn't materialise until 2009.
Ben has no idea how long he will stay in the show and is just as cautious when it comes to talking about Nick and Leanne's chances of living happily ever after.
"They're doomed to stay together," he grinned.
"It's like Ken and Deirdre — they're together, but they each keep going off.
"That's the blueprint to how relationships work in soap."
