Katie Holmes' Broadway play axed after just six weeks
KATIE Holmes must be longing for 2012 to come to an end.
Six months after she made headlines by dumping Tom Cruise, the actress is back in the news for the wrong reasons.
Producers have pulled the plug on her new Broadway play after just six weeks - because of terrible ticket sales.
Dead Accounts was meant to be the 34-year-old's big acting comeback following her split from Cruise.
But Katie's famous name wasn't enough to draw crowds to New York's Music Box Theatre and the show has been axed after weeks of playing to tiny audiences.
Box office figures show Dead Accounts is the worst performing show on Broadway and many nights the theatre is just a quarter full - with average attendances of just 38 per cent.
The play was scheduled to run until February 24, but will close six weeks early on January 6.
