There’s a lion on the loose in England! Actually... no. Not really... “Good Morning America” explains how one snapshot started the unnecessary frenzy.
LARA SPENCER: “Police an animal experts frantically searching for that --”
JOSH ELLIOTT: “Wait, there’s a lion on the loose?”
LARA SPENCER: “One-million percent lion. Well it turns out he might have been one-percent lion. It is a feline, just not quite king of the jungle, more like prince of the front porch.”
That’s right -- GMA reports this cat named “Teddy Bear” set off 30 officers, 2 helicopters, and hours of searching for that ‘ferocious’ feline.
Turns out Teddy Bear even has his own Twitter page under the handle @EssexLion. It was created back when people still thought he was King of the Savannah -- And just like an tough lion should, he tweets are more like roars - since all of them are in all caps. The latest Tweet from the @EssexLion...
“I'VE HAD A RIGHT TIME OF IT. MY EX-GF SPREAD RUMOURS THAT I'M ONLY A CAT SO WE JUST HAD A MASSIVE ROW IN TESCOS.GOT NASTY. ATE HER CHIHUAHUA.”
The Daily Buzz reports why the feline was confused with its much bigger cousin --
“He’s an American longhair, which are typically much bigger than normal housecats. The owner says Teddy Bear likes to hunt in the fields, so the search has been called off.”
“I love it!”
