Kelly Osbourne backs Joan Rivers in "Nicky Minaj" row

KELLY Osbourne has backed Joan Rivers after the comedienne blasted Rihanna for saying she still loves her abusive ex Chris Brown.

The outspoken stand-up irked the singer after she vented her fury on Twitter following Rihanna's teary TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The We Found Love star broke down as she talked candidly about the assault she suffered at the hands of singer Brown in 2009, but said: "We love each other and we probably always will."

Rivers took to Twitter to air her outrage at "Nicky Minaj"'s remarks, writing: "Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it's MY turn to slap her."

The Bajan hitmaker didn't take kindly to Rivers' criticism, hitting back: "Joan_Rivers wow u really do get slow when you're old huh?"

She added: "Slap on some diapers."

Outspoken ... Joan Rivers

And now Osbourne has waded into the war of words, expressing disbelief that "Nicky Minaj" took Rivers' words so seriously.

The daughter of Sharon and Ozzy – who co-hosts US TV show Fashion Police with Rivers – wrote: "With the greatest of respect 2 a young lady of whom I love please get a sense of humour @Joan_Rivers paved the way 4 all us opinionated ladies!"

Sharp-tongued Rivers has since responded to "Nicky Minaj"'s retaliatory tweet with a slightly more muted message.

She wrote: "Honey, "Nicky Minaj", everyone knows: If he hit you once, he'll hit you again. Read the statistics."

And she ended the post with an attempt to make peace with the superstar, saying: "PS - Love to have you on Fashion Police!"

Rihanna was left bloodied and bruised when a row between her and Brown escalated into violence en route to a pre-Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles.

The R&B star was sentenced to five years' probation and six months of community service.
