What is Kim Kardashian up to of late ?

Kim Kardashian vs Sarah Jessica Parker: Races fashion faceoff

Kim Kardashian and Sarah Jessica Parker sit at opposite ends of the style and celebrity spectrum, at least when it comes to the man repeller/propeller question.

However, next week, they'll be pitted against each other, as both vie for the title of Most Stylish Celebrity at the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Though we (sad face) doubt either star will turn up to the races wearing an Australian label, we decided to test drive both stars in the resort and spring summer collections of 14 of Australia's best designers, to see who carries their looks off best.

This competition may not seem fair at first, given SJP's better known in the dressing department, but when you think of Kim's signature looks - brash, flashy, fun - they're pretty in line with the spirit of Australian style.

Akira
Kim: Akira's elegant, loose silhouettes, Japonism twists and sense of subtlety are so not Kim's style.
SJP: Plays on proportion, joyful use of colour and creativity with print are all Akira calling cards, and they're things SJP pulls off well.
Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker

Alex Perry
Kim: Alex Perry's latest collection is even flashier than usual, and all in fairly classic hues to boot. We could definitely see the Dash donning a Perry dress.
SJP: Alex Perry at his most formal and ladylike is something we could see Carrie wearing circa season six SATC, but SJP's style is a little more relaxed.
Winner: Kim Kardashian

Camilla
Kim: Bright, statement prints aren't typical fare for Kim, who tends more towards neutrals and metallics, but we think she could carry off a Camilla kaleidoscope.
SJP: Sarah Jessica's signature style has a strong sense of the seventies, which always comes through in Camilla kaftans.
Winner: Tie.

Camilla and Marc
Kim: Camilla and Marc's bread and butter is the fun, sexy party frock, which just so happens to be Kim's bread and butter too. While a lot of Camilla and Marc styles might not suit Kim's curvy physique, there are a few in there that would look banging.
SJP: Camilla and Marc also offer more directional pieces, in the form of seriesouly impressive trousers and seperates (just ask Style.com), but those aren't exactly race appropriate, unlike this long green gown.
Winner: Kim Kardashian (but only by a little)

Carl Kapp

Kim: Carl Kapp's creations have a fluidity of form Kim usually eschews, but she has been known to go in for a dramatic dress now and then.
SJP: Kapp's clever ties, flowing styles and eye watering brights were practically made for SJP. This is fashion that looks free and flashy.
Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker

Dion Lee
Kim: Dion Lee's work is clean, controlled and structural, but it actually looks amazing on curves. Unfortunately his hemlines might be a little short for Kim.
SJP: Dion Lee's strongest suit is his masterful tailoring, and while Sarah Jessica rocks the occasional jacket, she's not all that big on the super strong structure.
Winner: Tie. In that neither of them would work it that well.

Ellery
Kim: While Ellery's pieces are on the whole a little too directional (and ok, if we're being honest here, small) for Kim's classic style, this little gold number would actually look perfect on her.
SJP: The crystal encrusted top and fluffy skirt combo Ellery sent down the runway at Australian Fashion Week this year is very early Carrie, and sort of Sarah Jessica too.
Winner: Tie

Josh Goot
Kim: Though he used to be on like body-con, Josh Goot's structural pieces lately play with space in a way that could intersect cruelly with Kim's curves. Couture proportions meets sci-fi Kim ain't.
SJP: While SJP's style is light years ahead of Kim's when it comes to directional dressing, Goot's creations could still be a little too out there for SJP, who still likes to show off her silhouette. However, we can totally picture her rocking this dress on the red carpet.
Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker.

Magdalena Velevska
Kim: No. Just, no. No neon. No pleating. No dropped waists.
SJP: Magdelena Velevska's glowing colour palette, deco silhouettes, slits, and pleated panelling would look epic on SJP.
Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker

Romance Was Born
Kim: Romance Was Born on an Herve-hugging reality TV queen may initially make no sense at all, but then we remembered that Kim's wedding inspiration was the Child Like Empress, which is a perfect match for Romance's SS11/12 collection!
SJP: Sorry Sarah Jessica, you may be a bit of a fashion class act, but you're no Cate Blanchett, and wearing Romance, that's all people are going to think about.
Winner: Any other season it'd be SJP, but the Never Ending Story synchronicity means Kim Kardashian wins.

Sass and Bide

Kim: Sass and Bide's shapes tend to suit more wirey physiques than Kim's, but Sarah Jane and Heidi have enough acumen to make clothes for curves too, and their flash would look killer on a Kardashian.
SJP: We can see Sarah Jessica rocking full look Sass and Bide with ease, indeed, she's a Bondi-tan away from resembling the designers sometimes.
Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker

Wayne Cooper
Kim: Wayne Cooper's sexy little clubbing dresses are just right for Kim, provided she can find styles long enough for her knee-legnth needs.
SJP: Wayne Cooper's aesthetic really doesn't blend with SJP's grown-up looks.
Winner: Kim Kardashian

Willow
Kim: Willow's styles run small and but her signature bustier pieces might make buxom Kardashy look a little trashy.
SJP: With her luxe, but slightly bohemian vibes, Willow is a perfect fit for Sarah Jessica, who has even donned the brand in the past.
Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker

Zimmermann
Kim: Kim Kardashian may not be your prototypical Zimmermann girl, but there is a lot in their collection she'd look good in, and the palette is to her taste.
SJP: Sarah Jessica Parker would look perfect in almost every piece from Zimmermann's Spring/Summer offering.
Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker

It was neck and neck there for a while, but it looks like when it comes to wearing Australian racing looks, Sarah Jessica Parker wins by a nose! So let's see what she'd look like in our national costume, as dictated by the Miss Universe Pageant?

Lovely!

But Kim kind of wears it better...

Kim Kardashian says marriage isn’t ideal

Celebrity Trendspotting: Princess Wedding Dresses

Kim Kardashian.

Kim Kardashian became the latest celebrity bride when she wed NBA player Kris Humphries on August 20 in Montecito, Calif. The reality star bride donned three custom-made gowns by Vera Wang for her big day.

Kardashian's main wedding dress was an ivory Wang creation with a full tulle skirt and hand-pieced lace on the bodice and train. Her veil was a diamond headpiece.

Where did she come up with the inspiration for her gown? Another recent celebrity bride.

" Nicole Richie called me and was like, 'Oh my God, I have this vision for your gown just hear me out please, please, I think you should go super classic, really old Hollywood,'" Kardashian told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show August 19.

The reality star talked at length of her desire to be a princess for her wedding day, and her wedding dress definitely made that happen.

"I still can't get over how stunning Kim looked yesterday!!!! Truly a princess!" sister Khloe Kardashian tweeted Sunday afternoon. Others observed that she looked like a "true Armenian princess."

Which other celebs opted for the royal look for their wedding gowns?

Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie married longtime boyfriend Joel Madden on December 11 at her father, Lionel Richie's, home. The mother of Harlow and Sparrow wore three princess-like Marchesa gowns for her nuptials.

Richie's main gown had a ball-gown skirt crafted from 100 yards of hand-draped silk organza and tulle petals, according to People. She said that her style inspiration was Grace Kelly.

Katy Perry

The couple - married in India - squashed rumors that they'd wear traditional Indian garb. Instead, Perry went full-on princess with her wedding dress.

Katy Perry made her marriage to comedian Russell Brand complete with a dove-gray, floor-length dress with sleeves and small embellishments by French design house Ellie Saab.

Kate Middleton

A royal wedding wouldn't be complete without a princess-inspired wedding dress. Kate Middleton wed Britain's Prince William on April 29 in an Alexander McQueen dress created by Sarah Burton. The wedding dress featured a sweetheart neckline with a lace overlay and an ivory silk tulle veil with hand-embroidered flowers.

The inspiration for the dress? Burton and the Duchess never said, but many compared her dress to Grace Kelly's wedding dress. Princess Grace is a style inspiration to many!

Would you wear a princess-esque wedding dress for your wedding?

Kim Kardashian admits her marriage to Kris Humphries isn't "ideal".

The socialite wed the basketball star in August and says because of the publicity surrounding their union they are finding it hard to get some alone time.

She told People magazine: "It's not been ideal because you're newlyweds and you want privacy."

Kim's sister Khloe also admitted the couple had endured a tough start to married life because of the media scrutiny as well as Kris joining the large Kardashian family.

Khloe - who is married to basketball star Lamar Odom – said: "It's a tough crowd [the Kardashians]. I think it's just a lot of transition [for him]. It's a work in progress. I really think he's a nice guy, and he loves her."

However, Khloe recently said she won’t be giving Kim any advice on married life.

She said: "I do not like to give advice unless someone asks, but even then it has to be generic. Because you never know what happens behind closed doors. Whenever people tell you a sob story or a bad story, it's never the full story."
