George Clooney Gets Unkindest Cut from Ex-Girlfriend
George Clooney's girlfriend has slapped him with the ultimate insult. Italian hottie Elisabetta Canalis claims Clooney was more like a father-figure to her than a lover.
The startling revelation is contained in a new book "Questo Amore" ("This Love"), by Italian journalist Bruno Vespa.
Canalis, who is 33 and 17 years younger than the 50-year-old movie star, split from Clooney in June, after she spoke out publicly about her desire to get married.
Clooney, considered one of the most eligible bachelors in the world, has vowed never to get married again.
He divorced his first wife, actress Talia Balsam in 1993. They married in 1989.
Since then, he's dated a succession of women, including British model Lisa Snowdon and Las Vegas nightclub hostess Sarah Larson.
He ended his relationship with Larson in May 2008 and started dating Canalis the follow year. They stayed together for almost two years.
Their parting appeared to be less than amicable. Clooney almost immediately started dating former WWE diva Stacy Keibler, who towers over him.
Canalis is reportedly dating former "True Blood" star Mehcad Brook, who is two years her junior.
"He has been special for me, and very important, just as a father would be," she says in the book.
"Between us there was more of a father-daughter relationship. I was unable to clarify this up 'til now."
That suggests the relationship almost certainly did not include sex, or involved some incestuous overtones.
She also disputes that marriage came between them. "The end of the relationship was not caused by a marriage issue, but instead by our personal needs," she said.
