Meighan: 1D are 'five little d***s'
The frustrated Kasabian frontman says it's 'horrific' that the boyband, formed on The X Factor, have cracked the US market before his own band.
He said: "It's frustrating when you see five little d***s like that take over America, it's horrific but you've just got to get on with it.
"They're a boyband for God's sake and there will always be room for boybands. They're kids. Let them eat the candy."
The Leicester rockers have recently been on an eight-week tour of the US and found the going tough.
But he admits they failed to match the impact that One Direction's Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malick and Louis Tomlinson had on the US fans.
He added: "We went to America and it was a harsh f****** tour we did.
"We did nearly eight weeks out there and it was f****** gruelling. It was the hardest we've ever been pushed. We did well, we won the war on terror on that one. We've got to keep going back and back."
