Zuckerberg Makes Cameo on Chinese TV

The boy wonder billionaire Mark Zuckerberg was seen on a Chinese police documentary with his wife Priscilla in Shanghai. No, they weren’t tased or anything. But these few seconds on China Central TV are enough to get people talking. Here’s a look from Bloom TV.
“Zuckerberg and his new wife Priscilla Chan make a cameo appearance in a Chinese documentary about Chinese police methods. The couple was visiting Shangai in March, when they were caught on tape...”
This clip circulated quickly throughout Chinese social media. CNET reports...
“The image you see above has gone viral on Sina Weibo, the country's most lively Twitter-like site ...The fortuitous bit of filming must have happened back in March, when the tech scene's most high-profile couple visited Shanghai for what turned out to be a quiet, personal trip.”
It’s uncertain if this was staged, but rumors are surfacing that the clip may be an intentional statement of China’s fear for unrestricted information access. Just two years ago, Zuckerberg was having lunch with Robin Li, CEO of the Chinese search engine Baidu.
In a 2010 article, the ecademy writes...
“Zuckerberg's visit to China and Baidu poses a lot of questions. Besides Russia, China is another huge market Facebook is yet to conquer. Like many other online services, Facebook is blocked in China; does Zuckerberg have a plan to overcome the great firewall of China, and can Baidu help him do that?”
Right now, the answer is “No”. Facebook, along with Twitter and YouTube, are blocked in China. Eduardo Saverin, a co-founder of Facebook, said that expanding Facebook into China is “disruptive globally”. The WSJ reports...
“As the world’s largest social network, Facebook would likely have to bring not only willful censorship, but also the release of personal information to the government – a practice that famously earned Yahoo several run-ins with the U.S. congress.”
But traveling seems to be the norm when you’re married to a self-made billionaire. The couple was spotted this weekend in Italy, where they were seen visiting the Sistine Chapel. Zuckerberg-- sporting jeans and a hoodie.
