Katy Perry goes for goth glam with purple hair and a black dress

The 27-year-old singer looked dark and dangerous in a sheer, black, studded mini dress, sunglasses and skyscraper Louboutin heels.

The Part Of Me star showed off her dramatic purple hair and looked very serious as she went out in New York.

Far less like her usual cartoon character persona, the singer-turned-film-star rocked the glam goth look well.

The newly-single performer has been promoting her upcoming 3D behind-the-scenes documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me.

Scenes of Katy and sister Angela Hudson on slides at a waterpark were released as film previews.

The film is set to show the real her, behind the layers of make-up and costumes and what it's like to be a pop star, 'warts and all'.

She said: "When you see the film, it's a bit scary because there's a lot of shots of me bloated with zits and being normal!"
