Just a few weeks after Whitney Houston’s death — rumors are already circulating about plans for a biopic. According to UK entertainment site The People — Houston was on board with the project before she died. A source says:

“Whitney knew about the project and was excited to see where it would lead.”

According to The Daily Mail — Houston’s mentor – Clive Davis – is at the helm of the project.  He worked closely with Houston for thirty years and paid tribute to the star at her funeral. But who would Davis tap to portray the starlet? Clevver Music has a list of celebs being considered for the role.

“Apparently the person that’s at the top of the list is none other than Rihanna.  The other artists in contention include Vivica A. Fox, Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks.”

A blogger for Entertainment Weekly discounts that list as nothing more than a rumor — but still speculates about a few of the potential contenders.

“Is Rihanna best suited [to play Houston]? She seems too young and inexperienced as an actress to handle such heavy and high-profile work. Hudson could probably do it, as could Fox (though at 47, it may be tough for her to play Houston in her twentysomething prime).”

But actress Meagan Good tells E! Online — Houston previously talked to her about starring in the movie. Good says in those conversations, the two couldn’t decide how the movie would end.

"My feeling is because she has the film Sparkle coming out and she's brilliant in it and she looks beautiful and healthy, my feeling was that's how we should end the movie—as a new beginning for her...”

Sparkle is the last film Houston starred in before her death. Extra TV reports — it was set to hit theaters in August 2012, but the studio may try to release it earlier. In addition to a biopic, rumors are circulating that Houston’s ex Bobby Brown may pen a tell-all about the singer.
