What’s behind Lady Gaga’s poker face? A charitable outlook. Wednesday, the 25-year-old superstar unveiled her long-awaited “Born This Way Foundation” at Harvard University — and live-streamed the event, where she answered spiritual leader Deepak Chopra’s question about how to change the world for the better.

“I believe that if each one of us just transformed one small bit of ourselves to be a bit kinder, a bit more loving, a bit more tolerant of even the most miniscule thing.”

The “Bad Romance” singer was joined by several other high-profile celebrities and philanthropists, including Oprah Winfrey.

“According to Lady Gaga, it is a passion project, which she hopes will establish a standard of bravery and kindness, as well as create a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others.”

The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports Gaga’s motives behind the foundation are a no-brainer.

“She has talked openly about feeling ‘like a freak’ as a teenager, and her songs—particularly ‘Born This Way,’ the title track of her 2011 album—are sometimes appeals for tolerance, social acceptance, and courage.”

The foundation, which was co-founded by Gaga’s own mother monster, Cynthia Germanotta, will utilize digital media and social networking as one of several means for positive social change. According to MTV ...

“She met with President Obama at a fundraiser in September to talk about the bullying epidemic, after she was touched in particular by the suicide of bullied 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer.”

Rodemeyer Tweeted “@ladygaga bye mother monster, thank you for all you have done, paws up forever”, before he took his own life on September 18, 2011.
