Argo took home another big award Sunday night—the Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.
“This has nothing to do with me, it has to do with the incredible people who are in this movie... And they wanted to kill it to make the movie better. Because that’s what actors do all over the world every day.”
The outstanding cast award is essentially the Screen Actors Guild equivalent to the best picture award at the Oscars.
The Los Angeles Times has big expectations for the film’s future as awards season draws to a close. A writer says the movie has …
“… [solidified] its status as the front-runner in an Oscar race that has been muddled from the beginning. The award for cast in a motion picture is often seen as a bellwether for the Academy Award.”
It seems everyone expects a strong performance at the Oscars except for the man who directed it. E! Online has some of Ben Affleck’s feelings about what’s still to come.
“I don't know what's going to happen … Maybe nothing will happen.” And when asked if the SAG win bodes well for the Oscar’s, Affleck said: “I think I'm very lucky to have this job.”
If ‘Argo’ wins best picture, it will be just the fourth time since 1929 in which a film wins the award without its director receiving a nomination. The ‘85th Academy Awards’ will air February 24th on ABC.
