Tarantino shoots to top of box office

Check out this exclusive clip of Tarantino's new film; Django Unchained.

QUENTIN Tarantino's spaghetti western Django Unchained shot up the Aussie box office at the weekend, taking the No 1 spot hostage with a solid $ 3.8 million.

Even more significant, perhaps, for the second film in Tarantino's planned "revisionist history trilogy" was a swaggering screen average of $ 11,500 over 330 screens.

The Life of Pi's spectacular brand of spiritualism held onto the No 2 spot after four weeks in release, with an overall tally of $ 23 million.

Tsunami disaster flick The Impossible, for which Naomi Watts is nominated for an Oscar, came in at No 3, taking almost $ 1.3 million.
