They may have had a tempestuous relationship, but Alex Reid seems to be attempting to smooth things over with ex, Chantelle Houghton, after he was spotted entering her house with a Chinese takeaway.

The cage fighter and 29-year-old Houghton broke up recently, and the pair have sniped at each other through separate magazine interviews.

It now seems that Alex's efforts to get Chantelle speaking to him have come to fruition, after he was seen entering the home they once shared with a bag of food.

But while the pair may have shared dinner together Alex was seen leaving the house just hours later and a source close to the pair insist they are not getting back together.

A close pal told MailOnline, 'Alex is keen to see Dolly as much as he can but he and Chantelle are not back together.'

The following day, single mum Chantelle enjoyed some quality time with her baby daughter Dolly and her mother.

The family day out saw the Celebrity Big Brother star head to a pub for some lunch.

Wearing a white top and black leggings, Chantelle looked glum during the afternoon stroll, and it's clear recent events have taken a toll on the reality TV star.

She barely raised a smile as she pushed Dolly in the pram, but was sure to have been grateful for her mother's support during these tough times.

Reid has been desperate to reunite with his former fiancée, and earlier this month he released an emotional video plea on the Now Magazine's website, pleading for Chantelle to give him another chance.

Alex is seen saying: 'Chantelle, I love you, I really love Dolly and I really want us to work. But things really have to change. There's been so many untruths said, and I feel if I don't say something, it's going to get worse and worse. Things have to change.'

Reid meanwhile has spoken out again about his hope for a reconciliation with his ex.

He told Now magazine: 'This has hit me for six. It feels almost as bad as what Jordan did to me.

'I haven't cried, though, because it's still so early and I've still got hope.'
