An emotional and upset Eva Longoria was comforted at the funeral of Lupe Ontiveros by friend Wilmer Valderrama, yesterday.

The two small screen stars joined over 800 family and friends who gathered at the St. Hilary Church of Perpetual Adoration to say goodbye to Ontiveros, who died July 26 at 69.

Longoria, 37, was clearly saddened by the loss and was seen crying as she left the service in Pico Rivera, California.

The former Desperate Housewives star looked distraught but was comforted by her good friend Wilmer Valderrama who also attended the funeral.

The pair met not too far from the church and both looked smartly dressed in traditional black attire.

Wilmer, 32, wore a suit, shirt and tie while Eva looked elegant in a well fitted dress with matching heels and sunglasses.

Longoria and Ontiveros worked together on Desperate Housewives as bickering in-laws but they were good friends off screen.

Their relationship was such that Eva was asked to read a passage from the Bible as requested by Lupe.

Fighting back tears she said: 'But the just man, though he die early, shall be at rest.

With every pew in the church filled, a quietness had taken over the congregation as former co-stars, political activists and mayors of Los Angeles and Pico Rivera all said goodbye.

Many of the attendees signed a large portrait of Lupe and left personal touching messages for their much loved friends.
