Kristen Stewart Robert Pattinson split: Rupert Sanders still wearing wedding ring

KRISTEN Stewart's married lover Rupert Sanders is still wearing his wedding ring - despite his affair with the young actress.

The 41-year-old movie director was seen in Los Angeles yesterday, the first time he has been spotted in public since his relationship with Hollywood star Kristen was revealed.

And he was still sporting his wedding band despite the statement he issued last week, in which he apologised to his wife Liberty Ross, and their two children.

The statement said: "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family.

"My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."

It emerged last week that 22-year-old Kristen had enjoyed a tryst with Brit Rupert - who directed her in Snow White and The Huntsmen - after pictures emerged of the two kissing.

And news of the affair instantly destroyed Kristen's relationship with her former Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, who she has dated for the past three years.

Pattinson has already moved his belongings out of the £3.8million mansion the couple shared - and is said to be demanding a man-to-man chat with love rival Rupert.

Former couple Rob and Kristen are now said to be locked in a bitter custody battle over their dog, Bear, which they adopted from a New Orleans shelter.

An insider told gossip website Radar Online: "After Rob moved his things out of their Los Angeles apartment, he then told Kristen he wanted Bear.

"She was heartbroken - they adopted Bear together and she's always felt that he was their little baby.

"But Rob was so hurt by Kristen's actions he decided that he wants the dog to help him get over what happened. After all, a dog is a man's best friend and Bear is such a good companion."

But Kristen is said to be seeking a joint custody arrangement for the dog, who she helped to nurse through canine disease Parvo.

A Hollywood source also revealed that the star's affair may hurt her professionally as well as personally, saying: "Kristen's the most hated woman in Hollywood.

"Female moviegoers have been looking for a reason not to like her and now they have it."

But despite the pair's split, they are set to reunite in November - at the premiere of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Producers have told the pair that they are contractually obliged to attend the screening, and even have pictures taken side by side on the red carpet.
