TOWIE's James 'Arg' Argent in 'racist' gaffe after praising mixed-race comedian Al Pillay's 'spray-tan'
Fans of The Only Way Is Essex will know James 'Arg' Argent is prone to making inappropriate gaffes.
Appearing on a London radio show last week, the wedding singer caused controversy when he praised a part-Indian singer/actor's 'spray-tan'.
Argent was co-hosting The Late Show With Joanne Good on BBC London when they interviewed cabaret star Al Pillay.
Awkward: James 'Arg' Argent asked part-Indian actor Al Pillay (right) if he had a 'spray-tan' on BBC London last week
Pillay, 52, has an Irish-Jamaican mother and a father of South African, Indian and Spanish ancestry.
Quizzing Pillay, Argent said: 'Have you ever been to Essex before?
'I think you'd fit right in. You've got this whole spray tan thing going on. You're browner than me.'
Pillay awkwardly responded: 'No, I was born brown, It's natural.'
But Argent carried on praising Pillay's skin colour: 'The girls would love you with that tan.'
Question mark? Pillay asked his followers what they thought of Argent's gaffe on his Twitter page

Taking to Twitter after the show, it was clear Pillay was unable to decide how to take Arg's gaffe.
Gaffe-prone: Arg inadvertently offended co-star Harry Derbidge when he asked him if gay men wore dresses for civil ceremonies
He tweeted: 'Listen to Jo Good Show on BBC iPlayer me being interviewed by Arj (sic) Argent from Only Way Is Essex. Was it a racist remark as folk are suggesting?
'Was it a subtle racist remark when ARJ (sic) commented on my spray tan or was he just being thick not realising I was born with brown skin?'
However, apparently Arg saw the errors of his way and sent a bunch of flowers to Pillay to apologise.
Fans of TOWIE will know the wedding singer is prone to making gaffes, but usually gets away with it because of his lovable personality.
Arg made another gaffe recently regarding homosexuals when he quizzed gay couple Harry Derbidge and Kurt Evans over civil ceremonies.
In the TOWIE episode set at Chloe Sims' 30th birthday, when Kurt admitted he would love to get married one day, Arg replied: 'Well would you wear a dress or would you wear a suit?'
An unimpressed Harry then hit Arg around the head with a paper plate: 'Just because we're gay doesn't mean we wear dresses at a wedding.'
Arg insisted: 'Someone's gotta wear the dress, someone's gotta wear the suit... so you'd both wear the suit, or you'd both wear the dresses.'
Picking up Kurt, 25, and Harry, 17, were clearly unimpressed, he apologised: 'Sorry, I didn't mean to make offence, I just don't know about these sort of things...
'The only way I can relate to gay people is that I'm a huge fan of Will Young.'
