A male friend appeared to be doing his best to raise Matt's spirits but had little success.
The central London walk was the first time Matt has been pictured since reports emerged he and Daisy had called time on their relationship last week.
The Sun revealed how the couple are devastated at the break-up but work commitments made their 18-month romance impossible to continue.
A source said: "It's been hard for them to find time together. This has come as a surprise to everyone. It was thought they'd be together for a really long time because they were so into each other.

A friend has claimed that the BBC sci-fi actor was becoming uneasy about settling down and tying the knot with 22-year-old model Daisy.
Meanwhile, Little Britain funnyman David Walliams and his wife Lara Stone were spotted cuddling up after a meal at celeb haunt J Sheekey in Covent Garden.
The pair looked loved-up as they linked arms in the street.
