Britney Spears has a 'very traditional' household
Britney Spears loves her kitchen.
The 29-year-old singer - who has sons Sean Preston, six, and Jayden James, five, with ex-husband Kevin Federline - has a "very traditional" home and says she spends most times in the room where meals are prepared.
She said: "My house is very traditional. And I love 'shabby chic'. It's a very homey-cozy vibe.
"We spend a lot of time in the kitchen actually, maybe my kids will be doing their homework or that kind of thing when they get home from school. I love my kitchen."
When she isn't working, Britney - who is dating her former agent Jason Trawick - enjoys relaxing by watching movies with her sons, even if they don't always understand what they are seeing isn't real.
She told Stylist magazine: "The last film I saw was 'The Never Ending Story' with my children. They liked it but they were scared in places. They were like, 'This is scary, we don't want to watch this. And I was like, 'It's not scary, it's fake, it's a movie.'
"They haven't really grasped the concept that movies are fake - they always say, 'Is this real?' and I'm like, 'No baby - it's just a movie.' But they liked it."
Britney Spears Spurred on by Chart Competition
Britney Spears credits the rise of British pop stars Adele and Jessie J for boosting her creativity.
The Toxic hitmaker has ruled the charts since the success of her debut ...Baby One More Time was released in 1999, and she's enjoyed a run of seven hit albums.
Spears has remained popular with music fans despite the rise of several other female performers, and insists her rivals push her to improve.
She tells Stylist magazine, "I think it's great to have a little competition because I feel it inspires us and makes us want to do better.
"There are so many soulful singers, even the ones coming from London, like Adele and Jessie J, who are just amazing. It feels like a really cool time to be making music now.
"In the beginning obviously I was very young and I didn't know the ins and outs of things; I was very instinctive in what I wanted to do, and I was very vocal with my input on things.
"I think as the years have gone by, and as I've evolved as an artist, I've put even more into my career, and after that amount of time you start to know exactly what you want."
