Penny Lancaster towers over husband Rod Stewart as they enjoy a night out together

It's no secret that she's a lot taller than him but last night Penny Lancaster really did tower over Rod Stewart.

The famous couple were spotted arriving at the 80th birthday party of Johnny Gold last night and as they climbed the stairs, Penny looked like a giant compared to her husband.

The blonde model made matters worse by wearing a pair of strappy gold heels, but Rod, 67, didn't seem to mind and is no doubt used to looking up at his wife.

The mother-of-two certainly made the most of showing off her enviable figure and teamed her shoes with a bright-coloured floral dress that fell just above her knee.

The 41-year-old - who measures up at 6ft 1in - carried a metallic clutch bag and wore her blonde hair down past her shoulders as she made her way inside the Mayfair venue.

Rod followed closely behind her wearing white skinny jeans, a lemon V-neck jumper and a checked blazer and sunglasses.

The legendary singer was also carrying a present for Johnny - who was the boss of the infamous Tramp nightclub back in the 1980's.

The venue was a well-known hotspot for the likes of Rod, Sir Mick Jagger and late footballer George Best.

According to the Daily Mirror, Rod says in a documentary about Johnny: 'Just as well it was before camera phones. We'd all be in prison by now, the things we got up to.'

Once inside the party, the married couple were photographed saying their hellos to Johhny as well as his wife Jan, as well as to Joan Collins.

Also in attendance was actor Sir Michael Caine, Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green and
former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman.

Rod and Penny clearly didn't stay out too late as today they were spotted out and about running errands in London.

Penny decided to leave her heels at home and instead opted for black flats, which she wore with khaki green trousers and a black top and matching cardigan.

As she strolled along the street clutching a cup of coffee, Rod pushed their one-year-old son Aiden along in a red buggy while smiling for the cameras.
