Most blogged artists: Nasir Jones, Dragonette
American rapper Nasir Jones joins the Hype Machine's most blogged artists on Monday, June 25, while Dragonette also re-enters the top ten.
Nasir Jones, better known as "Nas," is causing a buzz on the blogs today due to the release of the third single, "Accident Murderers," from his upcoming album Life Is Good, which is due to out on July 17. The latest single, which features fellow rapper Rick Ross, was described by Prefixmag as "on point"; it "continues the strong stream of tracks he's released from the album."
Making a reappearance in today's charts is Dragonette, a three-piece electro-pop outfit from Toronto. The band is making a splash with the release of the single "Rocket Ship" from upcoming album Bodyparts, due out in September.
Reception of "Rocket Ship" on the blogosphere has been lukewarm, with AudioCred stating, "Rocket Ship" honestly sounds like a cheesier Little Boots with the Distortion Knob turned up a notch. Meh," while Hillydilly was slightly kinder, writing "If I heard this song come on the radio, I wouldn't be mad." KickKickSnare was more enthusiastic, stating "This is the Dragonette I fell in love with - the musical sex kitten dripping with bravado and not afraid to bust a set of balls, or two. If 'Hello' was their polite introduction to the greater world, this [Rocket Ship] is Dragonette's sultry good morning."
