Oasis lord Noel Gallagher gets stick after hurling jibe
He's getting a lot of stick after having a go at the rough Irish game of hurling – just before he played a gig at the headquarters of Gaelic sports.
The High Flying Birds frontman – who used to play Gaelic football as a youngster – declared before his show at Dublin's Croke Park this week: "Hurling is just gang war with sticks.
"Gaelic football is a great game and quite exciting – but hurling? F*** that. Any sport where you have to wear a helmet is just wrong."
Plenty of the sport's fans hit out at the Oasis lord online over his comments – despite Noel always insisting he is proud of his Irish roots.
The former Oasis star's dad was born there and Noel used to spend summers at his grandmother's house in Charlestown, Co Mayo.
It hasn't been a diplomatic week for Noel – the diehard Man City fan has also admitted that Man United star Roy Keane is one his favourite footballers of all time.
