Tom Hardy shares the red carpet with lookalike Logan Marshall-Green at Prometheus premiere

American actor Logan Marshall-Green is one of Hollywood rising stars and is soon to become even bigger with a starring role in new blockbuster Prometheus.

But as he stepped onto the red carpet at the London première of his new film, many onlookers could have been forgiven for thinking he was British actor Tom Hardy.

To make matters even more confusing, Inception star Tom was also on the red carpet and the after-party.

Many film fans on the internet have commented on the staggering facial similarities between the two actors, who were born only 14 months apart.

However, Tom, 34, is more differential than usual due to his bushy beard, which he is currently growing for a forthcoming role in Mad Max.

While former The O.C. star Logan, 35, looked dapper in a light grey Balenciaga suit, Tom was dressed down in a white shirt and jeans.

In a recent interview, Logan acknowledged the similarities between the pair, but pointed out he actually has a twin-brother called Taylor.

He told Elle.com: 'I'd be honoured to be in the same sentence as Tom Hardy. I've been a twin since the day I was born - fraternal, but we look a lot alike - so I've already been mixed up with another man my entire life.'

London native Tom was at the première to support his friends - Prometheus stars Michael Fassbender and Guy Pearce (his recent co-star in Lawless) and the movie's director Ridley Scott.

The actor's friendship with Scott stems back to Black Hawk Down in 2001, in which the then-24-year-old Tom made his film debut.

A former model, Tom has become one of the most in-demand British actors in recent years with roles in Inception, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.

Meanwhile, South Carolina-born Logan is best-known for his roles as Ryan's bad boy brother Trey Atwood in The O.C. and Dean Bendis in U.S. TV show Dark Blue.

Although Tom posed on the red carpet alone, he later met up with fiancée Charlotte Riley for the after-party at Aqua.

In contrast, his bride-to-be Charlotte, 30, looked chic in a grey off-the-shoulder top and white skinny jeans.

He then joined his Hollywood friends at the after-party at the Aqua club, which was also attended by Salma Hayek and Minnie Driver.

Last month, Hardy told the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye about his plans to return to the stage in a musical theatre production called Harold's Harem.

Of his character in the musical, Hardy said: 'Harold's a cross between two guys Robert De Niro has played in Martin Scorsese films, The King Of Comedy and Taxi Driver.

'Think of Taxi Driver as a Bollywood movie and Harold's Harem is somewhere where all those - The King of Comedy, Taxi Driver and Bollywood - meet.'

But when asked if he would be singing and dancing, he replied: 'It's not a traditional musical.'
