Spoiler alert Batman fans ... are you ready? Robin the Boy Wonder is scheduled to die in an upcoming comic book release.

According to the New York Post, Robin’s death will appear in the eighth issue of the “Batman Incorporated” series, before eventually spreading to the storylines of other DC Comics.

ComicBook.com reports the demise of Robin is the work of eight-year Batman writer, Grant Morrison. Don’t worry though — Morrison says Robin dies a hero.

“He saves the world. He does his job as Robin, he dies an absolute hero.”

Believe it or not, this actually isn’t the first time Batman’s famous sidekick has died. Robin died at the hands of the Joker in 1988.

Fans were first tipped off when they saw a leaked photo of three comic book covers. Comic Book Resources reports all the covers say R-I-P, with the Robin emblem replacing the letter R. Suggesting Robin’s death.

But all is not lost for comic book sidekick fans — Morrison told the New York Post, quote “You can never say never in a comic book ... Batman will ultimately always have a partner.”
