Pat’s Wick-ed son David returns to the Square: David Wicks is reunited with Pat Butcher on her deathbed
Serial love cheat David (actor Michael French) and Pat, played since 1986 by Pam St Clement, come together in a New Year's Day special.
Pat's step-daughter Janine also visits. But David's appearance will not work out well.
A show insider said: "Pat is seen lying ill in bed after her health deteriorates quickly then she takes a turn for the worse.
"Residents of Albert Square start to rally round, to say their goodbyes to one of Walford's most beloved characters.
But it's Pat's son David and stepdaughter Janine who have the most to make out of their last moments with Pat.

"Bianca has been chasing David all week to try to tell him about how serious his mother's illness is.
"Yet when he finally does return to Walford, his reunion with his mum doesn't go well."
