Bernie Nolan has revealed almost two years after being given the all-clear from breast cancer, that it has returned and the disease is incurable.

The Nolans' singer who was left exhausted two years ago after having chemotherapy and undergoing a mastectomy, has admitted that while doctors have told her that the disease is treatable, there is little hope of a complete cure.

Remaining positive about the disease the star has told The Sunday Mirror that she's looking on the bright side of things.

'OK, it's not curable. But the doctors have promised me the cancer is treatable, it's containable. I'm on medication which is controlling it, and people have lived for 12 years on these drugs. Who knows what new treatments are around the corner?,' she said.

She's been touring this summer with the musical Chicago, but the 52-year-old star has managed to keep her devastating diagnosis private until now.

'I've really struggled keeping it a secret. I hate lying. For friends who are reading this, I know it's awful to hear. But I hope they understand why I haven't been able to tell them yet,' she said.

The performer has struggled privately with the news but is keeping a level head and is being positive although the news is heartbreaking.

'It is harder this time, because that word has come into it...incurable. That was never there before,' she admitted.

Bernie went into fitness overdrive after being given the all clear last year and, along with her husband Steve Doneathy tried to rebuild her health.

The brave star revealed that instead of sitting back and doing nothing, she's going to fight the disease as much as she can.

Bernie has decided that now is the right time to speak out, despite the fact that she only told her 13-year-old daughter, Erin, just two weeks ago.

The star appeared on ITV's Lorraine to talk about breast cancer just a few weeks ago, but didn't feel that it was the right time to reveal her news.
