Anderson Cooper’s talk show “Anderson” will not be returning for a third season. Warner Brothers made the announcement Monday. KTRK has more on the story.
“And it looks like CNN’s Anderson Cooper is going to stick to covering the news...Anderson will continue airing through next summer. Cooper said he enjoys hosting the show, and sad it won’t be continuing.”
The New York Times reports “Anderson” had a tough time capturing an audience since it premiered in the fall of 2011. Warner Brothers issued a statement to the newspaper Monday noting the market quote “ is increasingly difficult to break through.”
“We are extremely proud of Anderson and the show that he and the entire production team have produced. While we made significant changes to the format, set and produced it live in its second season, the series will not be coming back for a third season...”
Cooper made a statement Monday about the cancellation. “I am very proud of the work that our terrific staff has put into launching and sustaining our show ... I’m sorry we won’t be continuing, but I have truly enjoyed it.”
‘Anderson’ was just one of a slew of shows to launch in the wake of Oprah Winfrey leaving daytime TV -- and Hollywood.com notes, it’s not the only one to fall short of expectations.
“New chatfests from Jeff Probst and Ricki Lake have also struggled, and even Katie Couric’s highly anticipated new series bowed to only modest ratings.”
While Cooper’s daytime job may be slowing down a bit, his prime time job is as busy as ever.
Cooper spent Monday covering Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey for CNN.
