The dashcam in a Royal Canadian Mounted Police cruiser captured a karaoke moment like no other.

The little silhouetto of a man in the grainy video — 29-year-old Robert Wilkinson.

CNN shows us the start of the squad-car serenade.

Robert Wilkinson: “ … but it doesn’t even matter.”
Reporter: “Maybe he couldn’t speak so well, but he sure managed to sing all of the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen.”
Wilkinson: “Mama … ”

The video went viral this week.

It’s approaching 4 million plays on YouTube.

But ABC reports Wilkinson was actually arrested last November ...

“ … but recently posted this video he used to defend himself in court. He got most of the lyrics right. But not so sure if that helps or hurts his case.”

The National Post explains how Wilkinson got his hands on the video in the first place.

“The video was part of the evidence disclosure package that was given to Wilkinson when he decided to defend himself in court, said RCMP spokeswoman Doris Stapleton. … He has pleaded not guilty to charges of impaired driving and refusing to take a breathalyzer. His case is set to go to court in November.”

Wilkinson also pleaded his case to the Winnipeg Free Press.

He said friends urged him to upload the video.

“Wilkinson added that he hopes the video doesn't send a bad message to young people. ‘I don't want them to think that they'll get attention for driving around drunk and getting picked up by the cops. I hope nobody ever drives drunk again.’”
