CHERYL Cole has been holed up in a New York hotel making music with a young hip-hop producer.

The Geordie singer was spotted arriving at 1am with former Bristol City footballer Alex Da Kid.

Close pals say she has "hit it off" with the music guru — real name Alexander Grant.

A friend told The Sun: "Cheryl and Alex have struck up a great relationship and have been living in each other's pockets for the past week.

"Some of the recording sessions have run into the very early hours with just the two of them and a laptop in their hotel rooms.

"Cheryl has been suffering from jet lag and couldn't sleep, so they have just worked through the night. It hasn't all been work — they've enjoyed some play too.

"If the music is going to work then they need to find their own chemistry."

She was wearing red hotpants and a T-shirt, texting on her phone. Alex — in jeans, black T-shirt, baseball cap and shades — carried a backpack with his laptop hanging out of it.

An onlooker said: "They seemed really relaxed. Cheryl was laughing and smiling.

"They looked like they had known each other for years."

Sightseeing

The following day Cheryl went sightseeing around Broadway with her PA and another co-manager.

Cheryl — divorced from Chelsea love rat Ashley Cole — threw herself into her pop career after leaving the US version of X Factor under a cloud earlier this year. She has spent the past week with Alex working on her second solo album.

They have taken over responsibility for her musical development from Hilary Shaw, who remains her co-manager.

Alex was picked after becoming one of the most sought-after producers on either side of the Atlantic over the past two years.

His breakthrough came last year when he wrote and produced two huge hits — rapper B.o.B's No1 Airplanes and Eminem and Rihanna's Love The Way You Lie, which became the UK's biggest selling single of 2010.

Since then he has worked with U2, P. Diddy and Dr Dre and been handed his own record label by Universal Music.

Alex gave up a promising football career to study music technology at Thames Valley University before leaving the UK in 2009 as an unknown.

Speaking in an interview earlier this year he said: "This is my entire life.

"I don't really have much of a social life."

The former Bristol City youth team player still enjoys football — but now it's the odd Los Angeles kickabout with fellow Brit Robbie Williams.

Cheryl Cole Warns Tulisa Not To Allow 'X Factor' To Ruin Her Life

Cheryl Cole “cringes” when she sees pictures of herself in unfashionable clothes.

Her friends have already raised concerns about Cheryl Cole's current mental state, but it seems the singer might be feeling lower then even they guessed - the star has issued a stark warning to her X Factor replacement Tulisa Contostavlos.

It is being reported that Cheryl contacted Tulisa directly to warn her not to allow the show to ruin her life, and share some secrets about the show's creator, Simon Cowell.

The two used to be very close friends, with Simon acting as a mentor for Cheryl, although their relationship blew up this year when Simon asked Cheryl to judge on the US version of the X Factor, before promptly sacking her. He offered Cheryl her judging role on the UK X Factor, and also on Britain's Got Talent, but Cheryl has snubbed both offers.

Cheryl now seems to be blaming Simon for her current turmoil, reportedly telling Tulisa that Simon encouraged her to leave her footballing husband Ashley Cole to focus on her judging position. Cheryl is rumoured to have expressed concern that Simon might put the same pressure on Tulisa's relationship with bandmate Fazer.

The dramatic warning also included the statement; "Don't end up like me - I've lost the love of my life, several friends and I'm off track with my music because I devoted everything to that TV show."

She's likely to have been further upset by the news that she would not be offered her judging role back next year, despite many reports to the contrary. Simon has reportedly offered his new judges, Tulisa, Kelly Rowland, Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow, a pay rise to stay with the show, and has declared the formula perfect.

Sources have suggested that Simon might consider breaking the current four judge format to allow Cheryl back onto the panel, but with so much bad feeling between the pair, it is unlikely that they will be working together in the forseeable future.

Cheryl's warning gives a rare glance into the singer's thoughts, and certainly seem to suggest that she is missing her ex-husband Ashley, and is likely to reunite with the love-rat despite seeming to walk away.
